Do Better Be Better

The concept of Do Better Be Better really comes from the spirit of who Chandler was, but the first time it came out of anyone’s mouth in relation to Chandler was from the very first phone call I picked up to speak to close family friends after hearing of the murder of my son.  The family friends said; like most; I know there is nothing we can do to make this better, but we just don’t know what else to say.  And I said, there is nothing… we all just have to do better… we have to be better.  I used the phrase a few times when I spoke at his funeral and his friends latched on to that phrase.  Do Better Be Better.. for Chandler. We can all do that.  We can all try each day to apply that principle. That is who Chandler was.  He was always looking for ways to better himself  to move up at a job or setting steps to achieve goals. One of the gifts Chandler left behind was his “Random Shit Notebook” his name for it. 😊  But when I opened this notebook, it was full of positive quotes, goals and just his thoughts on where he wanted to be.  The very first writing he had in the notebook was “Health Health, Wealth, Wealth, Beauty Beauty, Healing Healing” and the last quote he had was “You find what you look for”  I found the mantra with the first phrase to be very healing to say and the last quote.. only six words, but oh so true. If you are looking for negative, you will find it.  In his honor we are looking for ways for Chandlers light to shine on through things like, our annual Do Better Be Better scholarships and working and volunteering with At Risk youth.
